If your dog scratches constantly, chews at their paws, rubs their face along the carpet, or has patches of thinning or missing fur, you are probably more exhausted than the dog. You have most likely already been to the vet more than once. You may have tried antihistamines, medicated shampoos, elimination diets, or a course of steroids. Perhaps you even made the trip to a specialist allergy clinic, paid several hundred dollars for a full allergy panel, and came away with a list of things to avoid but still no real resolution. Maybe things improved briefly, then came back. Maybe nothing worked at all.

You are not imagining it, and your dog is not just being dramatic. Chronic itch in dogs is one of the most complex and persistent conditions in animal health, and it is one that I have been working with for some time. In that time, I have come to understand that the visible symptoms - the scratching, the hair loss, the inflamed skin - are almost always the surface expression of something much deeper going on inside the body.

What if your dog’s body was sending out signals that most testing simply isn’t designed to detect? That is exactly what I look for - and what I find, time and again, in animals whose owners have been searching for answers for months or even years.

Working Alongside Conventional Care

Veterinary medicine does remarkable things. Vets are skilled, dedicated professionals and the care they provide - particularly in acute situations - is invaluable. Medications like Apoquel, Cytopoint, and medicated washes can provide instant relief and give a dog’s body breathing room while more investigations take place. I have great respect for what conventional veterinary care achieves.

What I offer sits alongside that care, not in opposition to it. The approach I use is designed to ask a different set of questions - ones that explore what is happening at a systemic level, in the gut, the lymphatic system, and the body’s microbial landscape. These are questions that standard consultations, through no fault of their own, simply don’t always have the tools or time to address.

Reading the Body’s Own Signals

Every living cell emits its own tiny electromagnetic signal - a frequency that is as unique as a fingerprint. This is not a new idea. Researchers like Robert O. Becker and Reinhold Voll spent decades documenting how the body communicates through bioelectrical fields, and how disruptions in those fields correspond to imbalance and disease. It is the foundation of a whole field of medicine that works not with chemicals, but with frequencies.

The technology I use - the PetScan device - is built on these principles. By detecting and analysing the frequency signatures of your animal’s biology, it can identify resonance patterns associated with organisms, pathogens, toxins, and systemic imbalances that may not show up on standard blood work or skin testing. Think of it as listening to what your dog’s body is quietly saying, in a language that most conventional tools are not tuned to hear.

This is not a diagnostic tool in the conventional clinical sense, and I want to be clear about that. What it gives us is a detailed energetic map - a picture of what is active and out of balance - that allows us to build a truly targeted support protocol rather than working from the outside in.

What Is Often Driving Chronic Itch

In my experience, persistent itching in dogs is rarely a single-cause condition. The most common underlying patterns I find include:

Fungal Overgrowth

Fungal organisms thrive when the gut microbiome is disrupted or when the immune system has been under prolonged stress - including from repeated antibiotic or steroid use. Fungal overgrowth drives itching, skin thickening, persistent odour, and paw chewing, yet it is not always on the radar in a standard skin examination. I frequently see Malassezia, Candida species, and dermatophyte fungi as primary resonance drivers in chronically itchy dogs.

Once identified as resonance drivers, these fungal organisms can then be addressed using the PetScan’s meta therapy function. Meta therapy works by generating and delivering the precise counter-frequencies of the identified pathogens back to the body. In simple terms, every organism has its own unique frequency signature - and when that exact opposing frequency is introduced, it disrupts the pathogen’s ability to thrive. It is a little like noise-cancelling technology: the counter-frequency neutralises the unwanted signal. This non-invasive process can be delivered during an in-clinic session or remotely via the energetic link of a fur or nail sample, and it forms one of the most targeted and gentle tools in the frequency medicine toolkit.

Gut Dysbiosis and Intestinal Permeability

The relationship between gut health and skin health is well established in integrative medicine and equally relevant in animals. When the gut microbiome is out of balance, the gut wall can become compromised. Partially digested proteins then cross into the bloodstream, triggering immune responses that manifest on the skin. This is frequently mistaken for a straightforward food allergy, when the underlying issue is actually a loss of gut integrity.

Lymphatic Congestion

The lymphatic system is the body’s waste clearance network. When it becomes sluggish or congested, inflammatory waste accumulates in the tissues and the skin begins to act as a secondary elimination pathway - producing itching, redness, and eruptions. Lymphatic stress frequently shows up alongside other findings in dogs who have been chronically itchy for extended periods.

Subclinical Parasitic Load

Even animals on regular parasite prevention can carry subclinical parasitic burdens that do not register on standard testing but do show up in frequency scanning. These can contribute to ongoing immune activation and skin reactivity in ways that are easy to overlook.

Two Dogs, Two Stories, One Approach

Rocky is a Jack Russell Terrier from the Marlborough Sounds - a remote client whose owner had spent a long time looking for answers before finding her way to me. He presented with chronic pruritus, thickened and lichenified skin, and a history of treatments that had offered only short-term relief. His scan revealed a complex layered picture: systemic fungal overgrowth with multiple species active simultaneously, alongside parasitic passengers and bacterial opportunists. We worked through a phased protocol using herbal antifungals, MicroMed commensal probiotic, homeopathic support, and frequency-based meta therapy to address each layer in turn. Over twelve months, his skin transformed.

Ruby is a rescue Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who came to me with a bald stripe along her rear topline that had been attributed to stress or hormonal changes. Her scan told a different story: active dermatophyte infection, specifically Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum, were the primary resonance drivers. Once we had a clear picture of the actual cause, we could support her body in addressing it directly using targeted meta therapy alongside a broader protocol.

These are the kinds of findings that do not always surface in a standard blood panel or skin scrape. They show up in the frequency signature of the animal’s living biology - and once you can read that, a whole new level of targeted support becomes possible.

How a Session Works

If you are in the Rodney District or the wider Auckland region, your dog is welcome to visit me in person at my clinic in Snells Beach. The session is calm and completely non-invasive - your dog simply rests comfortably while the scan is conducted. No needles, no stress, no sedation required.

If you are anywhere else in New Zealand, distance is not a barrier. I work with remote clients from Northland to Invercargill using a small fur or nail sample as the energetic link - a method grounded in quantum biology and used by frequency medicine practitioners worldwide. You simply post the sample to me, I conduct the scan, and you receive a full written report with a personalised, phased support protocol.

Every session includes a thorough analysis of what the scan reveals, a tailored plan drawing on herbal medicine, homeopathics, nutritional support, and MicroMed probiotic where indicated, and clear guidance on what to expect as your animal moves through the healing process.

The Gut-Skin Connection and MicroMed

One of the tools I reach for most consistently in chronic skin cases is MicroMed, my own fermented and batch-brewed commensal probiotic. Unlike commercial probiotics that deliver a small selection of bacterial strains in capsule form, MicroMed is a living meta-organism containing around 80 strains of bacteria, beneficial fungi, and protozoa working together as a complex microbial community. While the gut microbiome as a whole is home to thousands of species, introducing this diverse and synergistic community helps to create the conditions in which the gut can begin rebalancing - supporting the immune system, reducing intestinal permeability, and laying a healthier foundation for skin recovery.

Gut health and skin health are inseparable. When I see a dog with chronic itch, the gut is always part of the picture. Supporting that ecosystem from the inside is one of the most meaningful things we can do for long-term skin recovery.

Could This Be the Missing Piece for Your Dog?

If your dog has been struggling with chronic skin issues and you feel like you have been going around in circles, it may simply be that the right questions haven’t been asked yet. Frequency medicine does not work against the body - it works with the body’s own intelligence to identify what is genuinely out of balance and support a return to health from the inside out.

I would love to help you find out what your dog’s body is trying to tell you. Get in touch and we can talk through whether a scan is the right next step.
